Some say the combat system is innovative and skill-based while others insist its a gimmick that'll get old in 2 months. There are plenty of youtube videos for every class if you want to see how combat and movement looks like.

Whilst this may be true, those people can't say it's more gimmicky than the standard MMO auto-attack + 12345678.

I'm personally happy with the combat. 5hr raids in WoW got terribly boring when you only pressed '2' most of the time for shadowbolt/frostbolt/lightning bolt.

You are joking right? How am I ripping a company off by aquiring *FREE* in game novelty items? You are aware that lots and lots of people have aquired all three pre order bonuses by doing this, and up untill now funcom have been aware off, and allowing several pre order keys to be added onto the same account? AND we are still going to paying $15 per month to play this game, how can it affect funcom if I have aquired two extra ingame items? Wouldnt it affect them more to actually ban accounts over this and lose customers?

Oh, so I am ripping them off by doing something which they allow ....

Makes no sense.

Anyway, they have said it was poor miscommunication and an account which is updated with a valid retail key wont get banned, only accounts which arent updated with a valid retail key are banned and the items lost. When you add the retail key, it activates the bonus that that key was supposed to have (So I will get a rhino, but my bow key will be cancelled).

Fair enough, but they could have told us that a month ago instead of just yesterday.

While I'd agree that Funcom made their own bed by allowing more than one pre-order key to be added to an account, it's also a bit dishonest to order goods from a retailer with the full intention of cancelling it just to get 'free stuffs'. Not only are people conning the retailer, they're also taking pre-order keys out of circulation for other players who might want them.

Just something to think about.

Conning retailers is fine by me, I do it all the time to get the best deals. Play were giving out £2 vouchers once from a newspaper via e mail address and the small print said one per customer. I entered both my email addresses for it, and they sent me two £2 vouchers, both of which I used.

You arent taking pre order keys out of circulation, because what happened was that everyone that Pre ordered before May 10th was gauranteed a pre order key. These pre orders were the only ones eligible for a key, and everyone that pre ordered before may 10th got one. At least both Play and Game said that only Pre orders before the 9th may would get a key, and they all did.

In America they were actually selling mammoth and rhino keys seperately, Funcom made lots of them, probably 100 times as many then they had spaces on the early access client.

The terms and conditions said that the only thing you needed to do to get a code was to pre order the game. It didnt say anywhere that you also have to buy that game or your account gets banned. By pre ordering the game, I was fullfilling the requirement to aquire a Pre order code.

Perhaps they did, and maybe you can verify that. But at the end of the day people ordering multiple copies (they had no intention of paying for) still ran the chance that the pre-order keys would run out, and in fact I believe some places have sold out. Except they may not actually have "sold out" because 2 out of 3 on many orders will get cancelled.

Which is pretty selfish, in my opinion, and also dishonest.

Though it's not the same scale and surely not the same severity, this is in nature what hackers think. This is bad and I'm pretty sure you won't care what people will tell you here, but if you get a punishment for that, you deserve it.

tiptoes out of this barbaric thread

Yes I dont care about losing the keys, but like I said, this was only just stated yesterday, not a few weeks ago when people all ready had 3 pre orders put up to get the keys.

I dont agree that it is selfish, because that is like saying people that paid seperately for a mammoth and rhino key in the US are also selfish. In the UK though I couldnt buy the keys seperately.

Remember back to GW pre order bonuses that you could buy in a store for £2. Was there anything selfish about buying three of them even if you didnt have three accounts? Its funcoms mess that they offered three seperate bonuses, a lot of players want to aquire all three and are even paying for it where it is possible. But paying for the codes wasnt possible in the UK.

So if I place 10 preorders for spore by accident instead of 1, it is *bad* to cancel 9 of them? lol.

There is nothing bad about cancelling pre orders. The terms for the bonuses stated *pre order the game*. I did that, it didnt say anywhere that I had to *pay for all three games* or get my account banned. It said that if I didnt add *one retail key* then I would get my account banned, but I am adding one key.

According to the terms and conditions laid out by funcom, I havnt done anything bad.

Is that your defense? By accident? I doubt you can say in one post "Conning retailers is fine by me" and then claim you did it by accident.

You refer to the terms and conditions. But you're here voluntarily escaping the real discussion, not to face the truth. You cheated. It's not illegal, but it's despicable. And someone has to say it to you.

Not remotely the same, and you know it. They are ordering and paying for a specific thing. Not ordering something and cancelling to get a freebie, without paying for the goods they ordered.

See Above, same thing.

Irrelevant. Accidental is not the same as deliberate.

Semantics. You were aware that you had no intention of paying for the goods you ordered, and it may have been possible that if everyone took the same approach (which sadly wouldn't surprise me) that pre-order keys may run out and people who had every intention of paying for a copy they pre-order *could* have lost out. If it's not selfish then it most certainly shows that you either didn't consider it (thoughtless) or you did and couldn't care less: selfish.

Yes, unlike Arena.net and the BMP they didn't make sure their promotional material was read by a decent lawyer, silly sods.

I am not saying you should be banned, or even that you should lose your bonus keys. What I am saying, or certainly thinking, is that the attitude of "got to have it all, and bugger the retailers and / or other players" is selfish, although sadly not exactly a surprise really.

[Edit] Also, I was reading the AoC forums, and quite a few people who pre-ordered have found that the Early Access Code, which was sent out in advance of payment, was limited. It is quite possible that a direct result of multiple ordering from people who had no intention of paying for it is that some people couldn't get early access, despite the fact that they had also pre-ordered. Once the allotted amount of EA codes went out, that was it.

The mount wasnt *Free* it was a bonus FOR preordering AOC. I went to Ebgames today to grab my mount and i had to show my reciept to the salemen there to get my code. IF it was *FREE* then i assume i wouldnt nid to show them my reciept.

And you are not simple canceling orders beacause u find a better deal but u are simple tryin to exploit the system.
So the term ripping off seems fine with me.

Yes exactly. I pre ordered AoC and got the bonus.

There wasnt anything saying I had to keep the pre order though

I ordered from game, amazon, and play because I didnt know at first which bonus I wanted. Then I recieved a £2 play voucher so thought 'Ok i'll get it from play then', and cancelled my other two. But they sent me free keys first, not my fault

That is actually the honest truth, I pre ordered from all three places way back in april and was going to cancel two of them since then regardless of the bonuses. I got a £2 play voucher so cancelled the other two. So I did something wrong there?

I didnt ask for the Pre order bonuses, they were sent to me for free.

the purpose of the Pre order is to reserve you a copy, it isnt saying that you are definately going to buy it when the time comes.

What If I genuinly wanted to buy three copies of the game, but then I realised I was short on cash. I'm not allowed to cancel two?

u can preoder as much as u want AND cancel as much as u want, But the fact that u HAVE registered AND add the mounts/bow to ur ACC THEN cancel the preoder is where u are crossed the line.

By logic as a "Normal" customer u wouldnt go off and add all 3 bonus to your account and then cancel the preorder.

Although imo banning of the entire acc is also takin it too seriously.

Read up on it? I'm not going to sit here giving you a list.

There were 3 hyborian insider videos that are very informative posted a couple of pages back. Not to mention you will know there is an official site. Asking the question you did is either:

1) Sarcasm, although it fails as this game is different.
2) Laziness to read up about the game.

Meh, ^ what my2cents said. I still stand by what I've posted.

One thing we can agree on is that Funcom screwed up by allowing the multiple account keys to be used in the first place.

The gameplay is more Active then ur avg mmo, u have the active combat (kinda like a fighting game sorta). Cant give u much info on this since i wasnt in Beta.

The graphic is one of the most advance of all MMo if not the most advance up to date.

The world is sumwhat instanced this is because the world is simple TOO big too be hosted as a single map. (game is like 14gig or more)

Yes. They let me do it, and then threatened to ban me. So I should accept that as ok and fine?

I couldnt care less if I lose my items, but I would care if I lost my account.
